Summary:

As an Electrical Project Manager, you will work in a fast-paced team environment in which you lead preconstruction processes, design and virtual construction, fabrication workflows, field installation, start-up, and project turnover. 

  • Project Size Range: Fully run projects cradle to grave up to $10M

    Responsible for running the entire project(s) life cycle including design, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, coordinating, and financial aspects.

    Electrical Project Manager’s accountabilities are as follows:

  • Safety

  • The project is completed at or below budget

  • The project is completed at or ahead of schedule

  • There are no unresolved safety or quality issues on the project

  • Train and develop project staff personnel

  • A satisfied customer

  • Billings are prepared and collected timely

  • Assure the accuracy and timeliness of all data associated with essential functions

  • Follow all standard company processes and policies

  • Satisfied shareholders

    The Project Manager is accountable to and draws authority typically from the Sr Project Manager.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure, follow, and promote Company safety and quality protocols

  • Plan and manage the project schedule and account for variances in the plan

  • Plan and manage the project estimate

  • Manage and control project cost and account for variances to the estimate

  • Create accurate projections of cost at completion

  • Plan and manage the project control systems

  • Direct activities of project staff personnel

  • Take off quantities and prepare pricing for changes when so directed

  • Thoroughly review all drawings, submittals, samples, and shop drawings, to ensure installation will be in accordance with the contract

  • Budget set-up

  • Write and manage RFI’s and change orders

  • Estimating and procurement

  • Plan and Coordinate work appropriately to facilitate the work permit process

  • Review construction procedures and provide technical support for work

  • Ensure construction work done in-house and by sub-contractors complies with the contract

  • Be directly involved with construction procedures, represent JH Kelly at various meetings

  • Perform field engineering for construction convenience items including calculation and design drafting when required

  • Keep management informed of project status and scheduling

  • Thoroughly review all drawings, submittals, samples, and shop drawings, to ensure the end product will be in accordance with the contract

  • Lead, mentor and manage Interns, Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and other project team members

    Relationships:

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships:

  • Both shop and field craft personnel; and supervision coworkers

  • Including other JH Kelly operating groups and teams

  • Customer representatives

  • Vendors, Suppliers and Subcontractors

  • Safety, CAD/BIM, Accounting, and IT

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

    Experience / Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of full Project Management life cycle experience in the electrical industry preferred

  • 5+ years of prior electrical field experience preferred

  • A background or experience in electrical design, industrial controls, the electrical construction process, and the NEC is highly preferred

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Technical Trade School, or a construction industry-related field is highly preferred but not required

  • Expertise in all responsibilities of the project showing proficiency and mastery with consistently positive results and growth:

  • Scheduling, budgeting, planning, and managing projects

  • Scheduling baseline, impact claims, and negotiation of soft subjects

  • Risk assessment and communication (internal & external)

  • Billings, forecasting, and resource management

  • Consistently produce greater than bid margin profits

  • Develop repeat business with customers and clients

  • Fully Proficient in Microsoft Office & Bluebeam

  • Experience in multiple markets or sectors is preferable

  • Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, using MS Project or comparable applications preferred

  • Above-average knowledge in Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Contracts, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and Safety

  • Ability to conceptually visualize projects and implement appropriate plans with financial success

  • Above average skills in reading drawings and isometrics

  • Must have a valid driver's license

    Benefits Package:

  • Compensation: $55-$70 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
