Fairview Health Services Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist in Saint Paul, Minnesota

At M Health Fairview, we're driven to heal, discover, and educate for longer, healthier lives! Our Home Medical Equipment team has a new opportunity for a Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist. The COP provides care to patients with disabling conditions of the limbs and/or spine or with partial or total absence of a limb. This licensed professional performs the evaluation, design, fabrication, fitting, and alignment of all types and complexities of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.

Our new team member will split time between our St Paul and Maplewood, Minnesota O&PO clinics. 60% of the time will be spent at Maplewood. The position is fully benefit eligible 1.0 FTE (80 hours/ 2 weeks) commitment, 8 hour Day Shifts with rotating weekends/on-call schedule. Benefits include: medical, dental, and vision coverage. Responsibilities Job Description

This position provides care to patients with disabling conditions of the limbs and/or spine or with partial or total absence of a limb. Performs evaluation, design, fabrication, fitting, and alignment of all types and complexities of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.

Job Expectations:

  • Evaluates patients regarding fit, alignment, cosmetics, and function and patient acceptance.

  • Adjust final product as needed.

  • Conduct measuring, molding, or tracing as needed

  • Completion of clinical evaluation and refinement of prescription criteria.

  • Consults with physicians and allied health professionals to formulate and/or modify prescription criteria, prior to or following, clinical evaluation of the patient.

  • Educates patient and their families regarding their:

  • Pathology

  • Plan of treatment

  • Potential outcomes

  • Costs

  • Department billing procedures.

  • Maintains complete, accurate patient documentation that meets or exceeds Medicare standards.

  • Quality assurance and improvement:

  • Consults with technical and professional staff to define, develop, and implement the best possible components, materials, and fabrication processes.

  • Provides clear, detailed instructions to the fabrication staff.

Qualifications

Required

License/Certification/Registration

· Active Minnesota licensure in Orthotics and Prosthetics and

· Prosthetic/Orthotic Certification in good standing with the American Board of Certification (ABC) or Certification in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC)

Preferred

Experience

· 1+ years working in either hospital or clinic setting
