Nursing Support Assistant

Do you want a job where you can make a difference in people’s lives? As Nursing Support Assistant, you will perform a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the nursing department and the administrative team.

  • Assist with set-up and scheduling of appointments for patients, updating appointment calendar and patient schedules as needed; input nursing activities into patient schedules

  • Keep portable files up-to-date

  • Answer the Nursing station phone; receive and transcribe phone messages

  • Notify family members of new orders, appointments, etc.

  • Set up and break down medical charts at admit/discharge; file forms in chart and assist with maintaining chart order

  • Assist with taking and documenting vitals; schedule diagnostic testing for labs and imaging

  • Handle all medical records requests and request medical records from other facilities; reorder patient prescriptions and pick up medications when needed

  • Assist nursing staff as needed with patient care needs, including response to call bells; assist with therapeutic pass forms for weekend passes

  • Update daily report forms and medical meeting forms

  • Keep nursing stations organized; maintain inventory and order nursing supplies and equipment

  • Assist with 1:1 charge sheet completion; make copies of forms, fax information, and communicate information to charge nurse and Director of Nursing Assist Administration Team as needed when directed by Administrator/PD

  • Review and/or set up admission packets for completeness

  • Prepare for medical meetings - gather all paperwork as needed for Medical Director, including vital signs, medication lists, all lab work, and other paperwork to be signed

  • Assist nurses with medication pass as needed after completing medication training

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and treat all persons with respect

    Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

  • Experience with Windows-based computer systems preferred

  • Spanish speaking preferred

  • Strong communication skills and exceptional attention to detail

  • Reliable, responsible, and caring nature

  • Current driver's license, car registration, and auto insurance if driving on the behalf of the company or providing transportation to individuals receiving services

  • Other training as required by state such as CPR, First Aid, Behavioral Intervention Techniques, and QMRP/QIDP designation; licensure as required by state
