Job Summary:

We are hiring for a Software Test Engineer here at Trane Technologies. This role will work as part of the Customer Direct Service (C.D.S.™) Team, focusing on business requirements from a Software Test Engineer viewpoint. Responsibilities include evaluating work scope, risk, and impact; troubleshooting for users and offering assistance; conducting software testing; refining and standardizing testing methodologies; evaluating and prioritizing scenarios for automation; and maintaining support for essential business systems.

The Software Test Engineer will spearhead the development of testing vision, standards, and best practices for our C.D.S. Tools. Utilizing their technical expertise, they will oversee and streamline Quality Assurance (QA) requirements. Acting as a vital liaison and coordinator, this individual will bridge Leadership, Product Owners, Developers, and QA teams both domestically and internationally. We seek a driven, meticulous, customer-centric team player with a deep understanding of industry standards, goal-oriented mindset, exceptional coordination and communication skills, and expertise in Software Quality Assurance. In this capacity, they will oversee testing procedures for multiple software tools, ensuring clear communication, meticulous attention to detail, standardization, root-cause analysis, seamless transitions, and timely deliverables, all while maintaining comprehensive quality records and metric reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Upholding and enhancing existing test suites aligned with industry standards.

  • Facilitating collaboration among team members, users, and customers across different locations.

  • Recording, prioritizing, and tracking reported bugs.

  • Identifying bugs through manual or automated methods.

  • Communicating with business users within all levels of the organization.

  • Interfacing with external vendor support service groups.

  • Developing and maintaining test plans, manual, and automated test scripts for user interface, functionality, system, and "ad-hoc testing".

  • Executing regression, functional, and data tests.

  • Documenting, mentoring, and monitoring adherence to best practices.

  • Contributing to technical documentation regarding the C.D.S Tools.

  • Limited overnight travel is required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS (or related IT degree) and at least 3 years of work experience is required.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong background in productivity software & collaboration tools.

  • Testing technologies: TestComplete, BUnit, Unit Testing

  • Microsoft .NET and/or Java development experience.

  • Web browser-based development experience (JavaScript, CSS, HTML).

  • Familiar with WinForms, Blazor, and/or WPF.

  • Experience with Aszure and/or GitHub Testing Pipelines.

  • Project management, time management, planning, organizational and analytical skills required.

  • Self-motivation, willingness to take initiative, ability to function effectively independently and in team-based situations.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required with good interpersonal skills, ability to express concepts and ideas with clarity.

  • Solid understanding of QA best practices as part of the development framework.

  • Sound knowledge of test and defect management tools like ALM and Jira.

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment is a plus.

  • Understanding of the software development process.

  • Experience with Agile practices is desired.
