Position Description:

Performs specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of assigned area. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to area, making recommendations and assisting in implementation of projects. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgement in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Manages Business Intelligence and other enterprise data system relationships involving the Office of Medical Education

  • Develops formal data mining processes and procedures for data storage and Academic delivery systems

  • Design and develop Academic processes to facilitate the use of Data Mining applications or complex data base systems. The ability to use those processes to assist in the integration of data from multiple systems for the purpose of analysis and reporting to state, regional, federal and regulatory authorities

  • Develops regular and ad hoc reports for functional and departmental users on ongoing basis

  • Utilizes SQL to enhance Operational Data Store (ODS) views

  • Creates relational and dimensional models through the use of SQL and Framework Manager for ease of reporting

  • Consults and collaborates with faculty, staff and TTU System IT and/or TTUHSCEP IT areas to develop new and enhance current technologies to meet current and future business needs, e.g. testing, implementing, maintaining web applications, mobile applications and integration with Enterprise Systems

  • Stays abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies, including scripting, security issues, authoring tools, graphic design tools and new languages

  • Collects feedback from users on project deliverables and process, and other metrics to optimize the customer experience and satisfaction with outcomes

  • Leads and directs projects, documentation, and monitors progress toward project goals, providing guidance and direction to overall effort to reach goals across unit initiatives

  • Advanced scripting using DB script languages (PLSQL, TSQL, MySQL) and higher level languages (C# console jobs and windows forms)

  • Basic project management training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), data science, or information technology and a minimum of 5 years' experience in academic or business applications and systems analysis and development

  • Experience in education program administration, including substantial experience working with related enterprise systems (such as Banner), curriculum management systems (such as Canvas or Blackboard), and related academic applications (such as Advise) •HTML, JavaScript; jQuery; VBScript, XML, .NET development tools and/or SharePoint site development experience

  • Experience designing and maintaining database systems and/or data warehouse

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Ability to understand reporting requirements, analyze these requirements, and propose BI solutions

  • Ability to take a proposed solution from a conceptual idea and design, develop and implement the solution for real, world use

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

  • As a member of a functional department must have the ability to effectively communicate technical and nontechnical information to technical and nontechnical users

  • Utilize web-services, APis or other data mining tools to automate data gathering and integration of external and internal data
