Wolfram Research, Inc. Payroll Administrator in Champaign, Illinois

Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language, is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join its Accounting department. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of payroll management practices.

This position will offer a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of three days onsite required per week. Additionally, a clear employment verification, background check, credit check and education verification will be required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Timely processing of biweekly payroll and direct deposit initiation

  • Accurately managing employee payroll records

  • Maintaining electronic timekeeping and payroll systems

  • Preparing reports for weekly, quarterly and yearly reviews

  • Collaborating with the HR department regarding employee data and payroll-related matters

  • Ensuring accurate application of pay raises, bonuses, incentives and overtime compensation

  • Completing proper deduction of taxes, benefit payments and garnishments/levies

  • Issuing tax forms and related documentation

  • Ensuring accuracy of payroll-related general ledger account balances

  • Serving as a helpful resource to employees for payroll-related matters

  • Performing 401(k) plan administrative functions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or finance

  • Knowledge of payroll management practices and related federal and state regulatory filings

  • 3+ years of work experience as a Payroll Administrator or a similar role

  • Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and meticulous records

  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills

  • High degree of initiative and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Location: Champaign, Illinois (hybrid schedule available)
