The Idaho Transportation Department is recruiting for an experienced Automated System Manager to be responsible for the systems used by the Division of Highways. This dynamic position is based at ITD Headquarters in Boise, Idaho, and requires demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience.

Note: This position requires a criminal background check and may include statewide travel.

Examples of Duties:

  • Manages the relationship between Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) and their assigned business area. Includes evaluating work requests and working with DevOps teams to gather high-level business requirements for changes.

  • Provides strategic consultation with business. This includes: establishing goals and objectives for the support and maintenance of major business applications, conducting an inventory of applications to create a holistic view of the current application portfolio, determining application disposition from both functional and technical standpoints by assessing its business value, technical complexity, and urgency across specified business domains and coordinating with ETS and business resources to develop and maintain the technology roadmap.

  • Drafts system change requirements for implementation.

  • Plans and coordinates system quality testing.

  • Obtains and evaluates input from users, staff, and management to improve system utilization.

  • Coordinates interface with other automated program systems and negotiates problem resolutions.

  • Provides oversight of major business application contracts. This includes gathering system requirements, assisting with RFP process, monitoring contract for adherence to requirements and escalating/resolving issues with vendor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Good knowledge of management practices.

Some knowledge of project management practices.

Experience:

  • Analyzing the capabilities and operation of an automated system including hardware and software to modify systems design;

  • Applying state and federal laws and regulations to specific program areas;

  • Analyzing system output data and writing recommendations or related action for follow-up;

  • Supervising staff.
